The prestigious Wimbledon Championships begin today at the All England Club in London. As one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in tennis, it attracts global attention. This year, fans are excited to see top players like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic return to the grass courts. While Djokovic chases a historic 25th Grand Slam, India will have four players representing the nation—but only in the men’s doubles category.

Sumit Nagal Misses Out on Main Draw

Unlike last year, Sumit Nagal couldn’t qualify for the main singles draw this time. He was India’s best hope in men’s singles but couldn’t get past the qualifiers. As a result, no Indian players will compete in the singles event this year. However, Indian representation continues strongly in men’s doubles.

Bopanna and Bhambri Lead India’s Doubles Campaign

Rohan Bopanna, a veteran with two Grand Slam titles to his name, will be partnering Belgium’s Sander Gillé in the men’s doubles. They face a tough challenge in the first round against the third-seeded duo of Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz on July 2.

Yuki Bhambri is the only seeded Indian player at Wimbledon 2025. He teams up with American Robert Galloway. Their opening match will be against the unseeded pair of Manuel Guinard and Romain Arneodo.

Two More Indian Names in the Draw

India’s Rithwik Bollipalli and N Sriram Balaji will also be seen in action. Bollipalli pairs up with Nicolás Barrientos of Romania, while Balaji partners with Miguel Reyes-Varela from Mexico. All four Indian players will begin their campaigns on July 2 when the men’s doubles matches officially begin.

Can India Add to Its Wimbledon Legacy?

So far, only three Indian players—Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Sania Mirza—have won Wimbledon titles in various formats. Whether the current lineup can join this legendary trio remains to be seen in the next two weeks of exciting tennis.
