Former Indian skipper and CSK's legendary batter MS Dhoni is one the biggest names in the Indian Premier League (IPL), even while he is at the ripe age of 42. He is the flag bearer of the Chennai Super Kings' fandom. In fact, he is the only reason, why CSK has the highest fan following and enjoys the highest viewership on TV and in stadiums. People are crazy just to see him bat. A single shot of MSD has the capability to become the highlight of the match. He has been in superb form this season.

However, the legendary batter shocked everyone, walking to bat at number 9 during the match against Punjab Kings. Even Shardul Thakur came to bat ahead of him. Dhoni's decision to bat down the order baffled everyone including the former Indian cricketer, who was part of the commentary team. Former cricketer, Irfan Pathan even argued that he doesn't deserve even a spot in playing XI if MSD wants to bat at number 9.

MSD's muscle injury

Now, the cloud of doubts around the MSD's demotion has been cleared. Several media reports have claimed that MSD is carrying a muscle tear in his leg, which affected him. After this, he is unable to run between the wickets. It is believed that Dhoni won't be able to play full-length games, especially during batting. Dhoni is taking medicines to minimize pain, reports claimed. He is doing so before coming to bat. Medical support has asked him to rest, but Dhoni chose to play.

Fans lash out at Dhoni

This wasn't the first time when he faced serious criticism from fans and former cricketers. He was trolled during the match against Punjab Kings when he sent back the non-striker Daryl Mitchell. It was very clear that there was a chance of double, which was denied by Dhoni. In the same game, Dhoni was run out by Jitesh Sharma.

Who will be CSK's next wicketkeeper?

Now, CSK is set to face a big problem as the second wicketkeeper Devon Conway has already been ruled out. It will be interesting to see whether CSK will rope in a news wicketkeeper or if someone from the current squad will step up to take the role.

CSK is already struggling with injuries this season. The star bowler, Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out for a hamstring injury. Indian pacer Deeper Charhar left the squad due to a leg injury. CSK is in third spot in the points table, winning 6 out of 11 matches.
