IPL 2024: Ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auctions, some of the big names of cricket fraternity have registered while some of the prominent names have opted out of BCCI's premier tournament.
As per Cricbuzz's report, a total of 1,166 players registered for the IPL franchises on Friday. Among the 1,166 players, 830 are Indian players, and 336 are overseas cricketers. The list includes 212 capped, 909 uncapped, and 45 Associate players. Notably, the auction will be held on December 19 in Dubai.

Top performers of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, with the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Daryl Mitchell are among the prominent names who seek to find a place in the 10-franchise league.
Autsralia's ace pacer Josh Hazlewood, whose participation was doubtful, has also registered his name. Meanwhile, England's speedster Jofra Archer has opted out of the auctions. It is worth noting that Mumbai Indians bought Jofra in IPL 2022 for a wooping Rs 8cr, where he failed to recover from his injury. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) hasn't provided any updates, on why Archer has not given his name for the auction.
KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier, and Umesh Yadav are among eighty-three Indians, of whom 18 players have represented India on international level.
Just four of the Indian players with caps—Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav—who were all recently released by their teams, have set a maximum base price of Rs 2 crore. The rest of the 14 players have registered on the base price of Rs 50 lakh.
Meanwhile, many English players have registered for the IPL 2024 auctions. The list includes Rehan Ahmed (Rs 50 lakh), Gus Atkinson (Rs 1 cr), Tom Banton (Rs 2 cr), Sam Billings (Rs 1 cr), Harry Brook (Rs 2 cr), Brydon Carse (Rs 50 lakh), Tom Curran (Rs 1.5 cr), Ben Duckett (Rs 2 cr), George Garton (Rs 50 lakh), Richard Gleeson (Rs 50 lakh), Samuel Hain (Rs 50 lakh), Chris Jordan (Rs 1.5 cr), Dawid Malan (Rs 1.5 cr), Tymal Mills (Rs 1.5 cr), Jamie Overton (Rs 2 cr), Ollie Pope (Rs 50 lakh), Adil Rashid (Rs 2 cr), Philip Salt (Rs 1.5 cr), George Scrimshaw (Rs 50 lakh), Olly Stone (Rs 75 lakh), David Willey (Rs 2 cr), Chris Woakes (Rs 2 cr), Luke Wood (Rs 50 lakh) and Mark Adair (Rs 50 lakh).
On the other hand, Hazlewood, Head, Starc, Cummins, Sean Abbott, Josh Inglis, and Steve Smith are the Australians who registered in the base price of Rs 2 crore. While Bangladesh players Md. Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah, and Taskin Ahmed also registered for the auctions. Mustafizur Rahman alone is valued at Rs 2 crore.
Notably, players from South Africa, the West Indies, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Scotland, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States have also registered for the IPL 2024 auctions.
