Jaipur: In a high-voltage match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals secured a spectacular victory by defeating the Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets. Batting first in this match, the Rajasthan team posted a total of 225 runs. In reply, the Delhi team successfully chased down this target in the final over, losing just 3 wickets in the process. This marks Delhi's highest-ever successful run chase in the history of the IPL.
Opening the innings for the Delhi Capitals, Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul provided their team with a magnificent start. The duo combined to add 110 runs for the first wicket. Nissanka scored 62 runs off 33 balls, while Rahul contributed 75 runs off 40 balls. Following this, Nitish Rana played a valuable cameo, scoring 33 runs off 17 balls. Ultimately, Tristan Stubbs (18 not out) and Ashutosh Sharma (25 not out) finished the match for their team. For Rajasthan, Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, and Jofra Archer claimed one wicket each.
Powered by a magnificent innings from captain Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals set a target of 226 runs for the Delhi Capitals (DC) to win. Rajasthan's objective in this match was to secure a victory and claim the second spot on the points table. After winning the toss, Riyan Parag elected to bat first. Initially, this decision by the captain appeared to backfire. Yashasvi Jaiswal (6), who had smashed a six on the very first ball of the match, handed a catch directly to the bowler, Mitchell Starc, on the third ball.
On the fifth ball of the very next over, the team lost the wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who returned to the pavilion after scoring just a single boundary. By the end of 1.5 overs, the team had already lost two wickets with the score standing at 12 runs. From this juncture, Captain Riyan Parag, in partnership with Dhruv Jurel, forged a 102-run stand for the third wicket off just 59 balls, propelling the team's total to 114. Jurel returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs off 30 balls, an innings featuring one six and four fours.
Building on this momentum, Riyan Parag combined with Ravindra Jadeja for a 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 28 balls, guiding the team to a formidable total. Jadeja was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 14 balls, while Captain Parag played a magnificent innings of 90 runs off 50 balls, studded with five sixes and eight fours.
Donovan Ferreira, in tandem with Shubham Dubey, added 40 runs for the sixth wicket off just 15 balls, pushing Rajasthan's total past the 200-run mark. Ferreira remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 14 balls, an explosive knock comprising six sixes and two fours. Rajasthan posted a total of 225/6 in their allotted overs. For Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc claimed three wickets for 40 runs, while Kyle Jamieson, Axar Patel, and T. Natarajan each took one wicket.
