Australia's pace dismantle the Windies (Social Media)
Sports News: Australia sealed a 3-0 series win against the West Indies and comfortably sits at the top of the World Test Championship's points table. The hosts were shamefully bowled out for just 27 in the second innings, handing over a massive 176-run win to the visitors. Australia's sensational pace attack made it to the headlines yet again after a dominating performance. Mitchell Starc picked a six-wicket haul in the second innings, scripting a great comeback after just 1 wicket in the first. Scott Boland ticked off a Test hat trick in the second innings, piling on the trouble for the Windies.
In his 100th Test match, Mitchell Starc scripted one of the best spells of his career. The pink Dukes ball is a bowler's friend, and Starc made good use of it. Chasing a 204-run target at Sabina Park, Jamaica, the hosts were never in the game. Seven ducks, out of which four were golden ducks, courtesy of Mitchell Starc's fiery six-for. He won the player of the match for his lionhearted effort. The left-arm pacer was also adjudged the player of the series for bagging 15 wickets in three matches.
A Test hat trick is not something you see very often. A Test hat trick in a pink-ball Test is not something you have seen before. Scott Boland is now the first bowler to pick a hat trick in the pink ball tests. The already suffering West Indies were 26-6 before Boland dismissed Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph, and Jomel Warrican on consecutive deliveries, claiming a hat trick. The Windies were shortly reduced to 26-9, making a mediocre total of 204 look mammoth.
Australia's skipper Pat Cummins said after the match that it was complete madness. "It played in fast forward almost. Every Test had challenging moments with tough conditions for the batters, but it was a good contest," said Pat Cummins in the post-match presentation ceremony.
