IPL 2026: These 3 players can replace Ayush Mhatre; may be part of CSK's playing XI (x)
New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings' young batsman Ayush Mhatre has been injured. He suffered from a hamstring strain during the last match with Sunrisers Hyderabad and now he will take around 6 to 12 weeks to recover completely. As a result, he could miss some matches in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. CSK have won only two out of six matches so far in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
Here are the names of three players who could be part of the CSK 's playing XI if Ayush is unavailable:
The perfect replacement for Ayush Mhatre could be 27-year-old Urvil Patel, a highly aggressive batsman. He played three matches for CSK in IPL 2025 and scored 68 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 212.5. Notably, Urvil has scored three centuries in T20Is. CSK has retained him for Rs 30 lakh.
The second player on the list is 20-year-old all-rounder Prashant Veer from Uttar Pradesh, who was purchased by CSK for a total of 14.2 crore rupees in the auction. This young all-rounder could play a role similar to Ravindra Jadeja's in the Chennai Super Kings team. In IPL 2026, he scored 49 runs at an average of 49 and a strike rate of 136.11.
Kartik Sharma, who was bought for Rs 14.5 crore in the IPL auction, hasn't lived up to expectations so far. He scored just 25 runs in the first three matches of IPL 2026. However, Mhatre's absence could give him another chance. If CSK sends him at number 3, he could change the course of a match with his powerplay batting.
