India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal struck a brilliant century in the second innings of the Oval Test against England, in front of his family. Earlier, he had scored 101 runs in the Leeds Test match against England. This time, he reached his century in 127 balls, hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes. This was his fourth century against England and the sixth of his Test career. His excellent knock helped Team India reach a strong position in the final Test match.
Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the sixth century of his Test career at The Oval. Out of these, four have come against England. He has also scored one century each against Australia and the West Indies. After being dismissed for just 2 runs in the first innings of the Oval Test, Jaiswal made a strong comeback in the second innings with a brilliant hundred.
Earlier, he scored 101 runs in the first innings of the Leeds Test. He also hit half-centuries in Edgbaston and Manchester, making 87 runs in Edgbaston and 58 in Manchester. However, he has also gotten out for zero twice in this series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal overtook legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar and senior Indian batsman Virat Kohli in terms of scoring the fastest 2000 runs in Test matches against England. He reached this milestone during the Edgbaston Test. Jaiswal reached 2000 Test runs in only his 40th innings.
With this, he became the fastest Indian, along with others, to reach 2000 runs in Test cricket. Before him, former Indian captain Rahul Dravid and former opener Virender Sehwag had also reached 2000 Test runs in exactly 40 innings.
