New Delhi: Many students on Tuesday staged a protest at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) event. Consequently, a large police force has been deployed outside the campus. The RSS has organized a programme called 'Yuva Kumbh', marking 100 years of the Sangh.

Who opposed the RSS event?

The RSS has organized a programme called 'Yuva Kumbh', marking 100 years of the Sangh. The event was opposed by various student organizations at Jamia Millia Islamia, including SFI, AISA, NSUI, AIRSO, DISCC, and the Fraternity Movement.

Students from various student organizations are protesting against the RSS program and also raising slogans of "RSS Go Back." Security forces even tried to stop the protesting students.

On the other hand, the program continued in the presence of the university administration, while administrative and security personnel remained deployed to keep the situation under control.

What did AISA say?

In response to this incident, AISA issued a statement stating that there is no place for the RSS in Jamia Millia Islamia. AISA, along with other progressive organizations in Jamia Millia Islamia, has united to condemn the RSS-organized event, called 'Yuva Kumbh'.

SFI JMI Unit, strongly and unequivocally condemns the administration for permitting and facilitating the RSS-affiliated organisation Yuva to hold a programme on our campus to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RSS, which is happening on 28th April," the organisation said in a statement.

The organization said that the legacy of our martyrs and freedom fighters who fought for a democratic, secular India today stands united against the RSS, whether in Jamia or outside.

AISA has said that it strongly condemns the invitation given by the Jamia administration to the RSS to organise the event openly.
