New Delhi: Security arrangements have been tightened regarding the BRICS Summit to be held on 12 and 13 September in the capital Delhi. Due to the movement of foreign guests, traffic diversion will remain in force on many major roads. Entry of vehicles may be limited in some areas and traffic may also be stopped for some time during VIP movement. In such a situation, it is important for those traveling to Delhi between 11th and 13th September to know information related to traffic and public transport.

Will Whole Delhi not be closed?

Entire Delhi will not be closed due to BRICS Summit. However, there will be traffic control and diversion on VIP movement routes. Entry of normal vehicles may be limited in some areas. Therefore, people have been advised to check their route before traveling these days and if possible, use alternative routes.

Will Metro service remain normal?

According to the information released by Delhi Metro, all metro stations will remain open till further orders and metro operations will continue normally. Passengers have been advised to check DMRC website, social media platforms or Delhi Metro Sarathi app for any changes.
However, the Delhi Metro Museum located at the Supreme Court Metro station will remain closed from 11 to 13 September 2026. Due to weekly holiday on 14th September, it will reopen for general public from 15th September.

Will Delhi schools remain closed on September 11?

In view of BRICS Summit, there will be a holiday in all the schools of Delhi on 11th September. Delhi Education Directorate had issued an official circular in this regard on September 5. Under this, along with government schools, government aided and recognized private schools will also remain closed.

There will be a holiday on September 11 in the offices under the Directorate of Education.

Will entry remain closed at many important places?

Some major places will remain closed to the general public during the BRICS Summit. Rashtrapati Bhavan, Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum and Amrit Udyan will remain closed for the general public from 11 to 13 September.

Apart from this, Delhi Metro Museum located at Supreme Court Metro Station will also remain closed from 11 to 13 September. Restrictions may also remain in force in some public places around Bharat Mandapam.

Are there changes in the routes of buses?

DTC bus services may be affected at bus stands where restricted routes are falling. Buses running on such routes will be diverted through alternative routes. This may affect the normal bus routes of passengers in some areas.

Therefore, those travelling by bus between September 11 and 13 have been advised to know their route in advance.

How many trains were affected?

BRICS Summit may also impact railway operations. Between September 11 and 13, changes have been made in the routes or operations of more than 100 trains connected to New Delhi Railway Station. Some of these trains have been cancelled, diverted, short-terminated or short-originated.

If you have to catch a train from New Delhi Railway Station on these dates, then definitely check the status of your train before going to the station.

According to Delhi Police, around 22 routes will be affected during the BRICS Summit. In view of the VIP movement, traffic will be diverted on these routes. The police have prepared a special plan for traffic management and several diversion points have been created.

Carcade rehearsals are also being conducted on these routes. Public advisory is being issued to passengers to use alternative routes.

In these areas, traffic can be stopped or diverted as per need. Traffic restrictions may also be seen on the roads around Bharat Mandapam, especially Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg.

What is the important advice for people?

People living in Delhi have been advised to avoid unnecessarily going towards restricted areas these days. If travel is necessary, check the traffic and public transport conditions before leaving home. For Metro passengers, service is expected to be normal at present, so using the Metro may be a better option to avoid the affected roads.
