Cashless Medical Care for 50,000+ Delhi Jal Board Pensioners (Pankaj Rai)
New Delhi: Monday brought major relief for pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a cashless medical facility for more than 50,000 Delhi Jal Board pensioners and family pensioners under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
Under the new system, pensioners will no longer have to pay medical expenses from their own pockets and then go through a lengthy reimbursement process. Medical treatment as well as diagnostic tests will now be covered under the cashless facility.
The entire process has been streamlined through a single-window system to make it easier and more convenient for pensioners. The government said the initiative will provide significant relief, particularly to elderly pensioners.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Delhi Jal Board pensioners and family pensioners had spent a major part of their lives serving the people of Delhi. She said it was the government’s responsibility to ensure that they receive better healthcare facilities at this stage of their lives.
She said pensioners earlier had to bear treatment expenses themselves and undergo a lengthy process to claim reimbursement. The new initiative is aimed at eliminating this inconvenience and providing them with hassle-free access to medical care.
Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said those who had spent years ensuring water supply and sewerage services reached households across Delhi deserved to have their healthcare needs taken care of by the government as well.
