New Delhi: The East District Police have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of stealing two-wheelers in Delhi and recovered four stolen scooters during the investigation. The accused, identified as Rajendra alias Raju, a resident of Mandawali, is allegedly linked to 15 criminal cases, according to police.

The recovery has helped solve four vehicle theft cases registered at Jagatpuri, Preet Vihar and Seemapuri police stations. Police are now investigating whether the accused was involved in other theft incidents.

How Did Police Catch the Suspect?

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rajiv Kumar Rawal said police had intensified patrolling and checks on suspicious individuals in the Preet Vihar area as part of efforts to curb vehicle theft and street crime.

On October 13, 2026, a police team noticed a young man riding a scooter near the Karkari Mor traffic signal. When he allegedly tried to flee after spotting the officers, the team acted quickly and apprehended him.

A check through the ZIPNET system revealed that the scooter was linked to a theft case registered at Jagatpuri police station. During subsequent questioning and investigation, police recovered three more stolen scooters based on information provided by the accused.

Four Theft Cases Linked to the Recovery

According to police, the recovered vehicles have helped establish links to four theft cases registered at Jagatpuri, Preet Vihar and Seemapuri police stations. Investigators are questioning the accused to determine whether he had any role in additional vehicle thefts.

Police said the accused had allegedly been involved in 15 criminal cases in the past. Further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of his alleged activities.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Subodh Kumar, Station House Officer of Preet Vihar police station. Head Constables Ram Singh and Neeraj Kumar, along with Constables Pradeep, Sumit and Chetan, were part of the team.
