New Delhi: Delhi Police has conferred honorary promotions on 95 personnel approaching retirement, recognising their years of service, dedication and commitment to public safety.

The honours were presented during a special piping ceremony at the Adarsh Auditorium in Delhi Police Headquarters. Special Commissioner of Police (Human Resource Development) Robin Hibu presided over the event and placed the insignia of the next higher ranks on the shoulders of the retiring personnel in the presence of senior officers.

Three Ranks Recognised Under the Promotion Scheme

Under the honorary promotion scheme, seven head constables were elevated to Assistant Sub-Inspector, 23 Assistant Sub-Inspectors received the honorary rank of Sub-Inspector, and 65 Sub-Inspectors were awarded the honorary rank of Inspector.

The recognition allowed the personnel to receive the distinction of the next higher rank before completing their police careers. The ceremony was marked by applause from colleagues and family members, as the department acknowledged their long years of service.

What Message Did the Special Commissioner Share?

Addressing the gathering, Robin Hibu congratulated the honourees and appreciated their dedication, commitment and sacrifices throughout their careers.

He said wearing the police uniform was a matter of pride and honour. The experiences gained while serving the public and the memories associated with the department, he added, would remain a source of pride even after retirement.

Hibu also described retirement as the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of a journey. He encouraged the personnel to preserve their memories of service, saying their experiences could inspire future generations.

Focus on Health and Family Life After Retirement

The Special Commissioner advised the retiring personnel to make the most of their post-service lives by prioritising their health, staying active and finding time for travel and recreation.

He also encouraged them to spend quality time with their families, children and grandchildren. Hibu assured them that although their formal service with the force would come to an end, their association with Delhi Police would continue.

He added that the department would remain supportive whenever they needed assistance.

Families Join Personnel in the Celebration

Senior Delhi Police officers, the retiring personnel and their family members attended the ceremony. For the families, the occasion was a moment of pride and emotion as the officers received recognition for years of duty, responsibility and service.

The honorary promotions marked a formal tribute to the contributions made by the 95 personnel during their careers.
