New Delhi: Delhi Police have seized approximately 2,375 kilograms of green firecrackers from a warehouse in Haiderpur village as part of a crackdown on illegal firecracker storage and activities that could threaten public safety. The raid was conducted by beat staff from Shalimar Bagh police station under the North-West District Police.

Two individuals have been named in a case registered in connection with the alleged illegal storage. Police said the operation was aimed at enforcing applicable regulations and preventing risks to public safety and the environment.

How Did Police Uncover the Stockpile?

North-West District DCP Akanksha Yadav said Head Constables Amit Kumar Yadav and Kuldeep Baliyan received information about the alleged illegal storage of firecrackers while on beat patrol in Govind Mohalla, Haiderpur village.

The police team acted on the information and reached the location, where the warehouse was found locked. The owner was subsequently called to the premises, and a search was conducted in accordance with the prescribed procedure. During the inspection, police discovered a large quantity of green firecrackers.

Firecrackers Seized After Licence Documents Were Not Produced

Police asked the individuals concerned to produce valid licences and authorisation for storing the firecrackers. However, they reportedly failed to provide the required documents.

Sub-Inspector Dheeraj Singh reached the spot, prepared an inventory of the recovered stock and seized the entire consignment.

According to the investigation, the firecrackers had allegedly been purchased for sale after obtaining a licence, but the individuals did not possess valid authorisation for storing them at the warehouse.

Two Men Named in the Case

Police registered FIR No. 367/2026 at Shalimar Bagh police station against Rohan Gaba and Bhavya Jaggi. The case has been registered under Sections 223(b) and 288 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 5 and 9(b) of the Explosives Act.

Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the storage and intended sale of the seized firecrackers.

Police Warn Against Illegal Storage and Sale

Delhi Police have urged people to avoid purchasing, selling or storing prohibited firecrackers in violation of applicable rules. Officials warned that unauthorised storage and handling can pose risks to public safety and the environment.
