New Delhi: Delhi Police have intensified their crackdown on an alleged drug supply network, arresting three more people, including a married couple, and recovering an additional 321 grams of heroin from a flat in Burari. The latest action also involved a 16-year-old child in conflict with the law.
The investigation began with alleged drug deliveries through a taxi and eventually led officers to an apartment in Burari. According to North District Police, the cumulative recovery in the case now stands at 411 grams of heroin, 22.1 grams of cocaine, 15.3 grams of MDMA and a Maruti WagonR taxi. Six people have been apprehended so far.
During a press briefing at Delhi Police headquarters, North District Deputy Commissioner of Police Niharika Bhatt said the Anti-Narcotics Cell initially apprehended two alleged drug suppliers, Achhe Babu and Zahid, near a foot overbridge on Ring Road in the Kashmere Gate area on October 12, 2026.
Police recovered 90 grams of heroin and 16.4 grams of cocaine from them. The investigation subsequently led officers to Mehrauli, where a Nigerian national, Kajethan, was apprehended on October 13. Police said 5.7 grams of cocaine and 15.3 grams of MDMA were recovered from him.
Investigators then expanded their probe to identify other people allegedly connected to the supply network.
During further investigation, police received information about a minor allegedly involved in selling drugs. According to investigators, clues obtained while questioning Achhe Babu on October 18, along with confidential intelligence, led to the apprehension of a 16-year-old child in conflict with the law in Amrit Vihar, Burari.
Police allege that the minor sold heroin on the instructions of Shiv Shankar, also known as Gela, and his wife, Omni Mishra, also known as Priya.
Investigators also received information that narcotics were being stored in a flat at The Hill Apartments in Shakti Enclave, Burari. Acting on the lead, the police team raided the premises and recovered 321 grams of heroin.
Shiv Shankar and his wife were subsequently apprehended in connection with the case. Police are examining the allegations and evidence relating to the recovered substances.
According to police records, Shiv Shankar, 26, lives in the Pinky Chaudhary Colony area of West Kamal Vihar, Burari. Investigators said he had previously been linked to six criminal cases registered at different police stations in Delhi.
The cases reportedly involve allegations relating to attempted murder, offences involving attempts to cause culpable homicide, violations of the NDPS Act, assault and theft. Police have also described him as a listed criminal at Burari police station.
His wife, Omni Mishra, also known as Priya, is also 26 years old. Police allege that the couple was involved in purchasing and supplying narcotics. These allegations remain subject to the legal process.
A Maruti WagonR taxi was also seized during the investigation. Police suspect that the vehicle was used to transport and deliver narcotic substances.
Investigators are now trying to establish where the drugs were sourced, who received the supplies and whether additional individuals were involved in the alleged operation.
The police are also examining financial transactions linked to the suspects to trace the money trail and determine how payments were handled within the alleged drug distribution network.
The operation was carried out by a special team of the North District Anti-Narcotics Cell under the supervision of Inspector Ashish Dubey, the cell's in-charge, and the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), North District, Vishesh Dhattarwal.
