New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested two alleged associates and shooters linked to the Neeraj Bawana and Naveen alias Bali gang during an operation in the Alipur area. The action was carried out by the Special Staff team of the Outer North District Police, which intercepted the suspects before they could allegedly execute a major criminal operation.

During the search, police recovered five illegal firearms, including two semi-automatic pistols and three country-made pistols, along with 13 live cartridges.

Outer North District DCP Shobhit D. Saxena said the Special Staff received a tip-off on November 2 that two suspected members of the Neeraj Bawana/Naveen Bali gang would be passing through Alipur.

Taking the information seriously, senior officers directed the formation of a special team. Police personnel subsequently laid a strategic cordon along the suspected route and apprehended both men.

Who Are the Arrested Suspects?

The accused have been identified as Kapil Thakran, a resident of Nangal Thakran village in Delhi, and 19-year-old Arun alias Bobby, a resident of Brahman Garhi village under Sonepat Sadar Police Station in Haryana.

A search of their possession led to the recovery of two semi-automatic pistols, three country-made pistols and 13 live cartridges.

Police investigations have also revealed that Arun alias Bobby was previously involved in an Arms Act case registered at Kharkhoda Police Station in Sonepat, Haryana.

Following the latest recovery, an FIR numbered 640/26 was registered at Alipur Police Station on November 3 under Section 25 of the Arms Act. During questioning, both accused allegedly disclosed their links with the Neeraj Bawana and Naveen alias Bali gang.

Special Staff Team Led the Operation

The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Shobhit D. Saxena and the supervision of senior officer Dinesh Kumar.

The team was led by Special Staff Inspector Vishvendra Chaudhary and included Sub-Inspector Vishal Malik, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajbir, and Head Constables Dinesh, Satender, Robin, Naveen and Ravi.

Police Investigating the Illegal Arms Network

Following the arrests, investigators are examining the source of the five recovered firearms and trying to establish who was supposed to receive them.

Police are also investigating the possible involvement of other gang members, the network responsible for illegal weapons procurement and distribution, and the accused persons' alleged involvement in other criminal activities.

Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
