'Work at Massage Parlour, Sell Momo': 3 Arunachal women face 'racial abuse' by neighbours in Delhi (X)
New Delhi: A repair work argument quicky turned into racial abuse after three women from Arunachal Pradesh were alleged called "sex workers" by a couple in Delhi's Malviya Nagar.
The minor argument started over the debris from an air conditioner installation falling to the floor, which prompted objections from the neighbor couple, Harsh Singh and his wife Ruby Jain.
The incident took place on February 20, when the three women from Arunachal had called an electrician to install an air conditioner in their fourth-floor rented flat around 3.30 pm in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.
The disagreement began after the dust and debris from the drilling work fell to the floor below, which prompted objections from the couple.
In the video that is circulating on social media, the accused woman can be heard saying, "Rs 500 mei massage parlour mei kaam karne waali dhandhewali (You work at massage parlours as sex workers for Rs 500). Are you sitting here to do business? Have you opened a massage parlour at home?"
The accused couple can also heard calling the woman "momo", "gutter-chaap", and telling them to "go and sell momos" and "northeast people are shit."
An FIR has since been registered against the accused couple, though no arrests have been made so far.
