Police Action in Mobile Phone Snatching Case: Third Co-Accused Arrested (Rimpi Jindal)

Ratia (Haryana): The City Ratia Police have arrested the third co-accused in connection with a mobile phone snatching case involving a student. The accused has been identified as Harpal Singh, son of Bheera Ram, a resident of Birabadi village in Fatehabad district. He will be produced before the court.

City Ratia Police Station in-charge Sub-Inspector Praveen said the complainant had told police that he used to attend Class 12 tuition classes at a coaching centre in Ratia. On August 17, 2026, at around 2:45 pm, he was on his way to the coaching centre near Maharaja Hotel when two unidentified youths riding a motorcycle approached him from behind, snatched his mobile phone and fled.

After the incident, the complainant tried to trace the accused on his own but could not find any leads. He subsequently approached the police and filed a complaint.

In connection with the incident, a case was registered at City Ratia Police Station under FIR No. 181 dated August 18, 2026, under Sections 304(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

What did the police station in-charge say about the investigation?

The police station in-charge said that during the investigation, police had already arrested two accused in the case. The third co-accused, Harpal Singh, has now also been arrested.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
