When did the incident happen?

The incident occurred around 2 pm on Tuesday in the Anjananagar area of the Bayadarahalli police station area. The accused woman, identified as Prema called her boyfriend, who is identified as Kiran.

The two worked together at a telecom company and were in a relationship for two years.

The accused called Kiran over when her mother and brother were not at home. after talking for a while, Prema allegedly told Kiran that she would propose to him in a "foreign-style." Then she tied Kiran's hands and legs with a rope to a chair.

When Kiran became suspicious and asked why she was tying so tightly, she assured her that it was all part of the special style.

The woman then poured petrol on Kiran and set him on fire, resulting in his tragic death on the spot.

What was the reason of the act?

Police investigations have revealed that the accused woman and the deceased both worked at a telecom company, and their friendship had later blossomed into a romantic relationship. According to preliminary investigations, the woman suspected that Kiran had been ignoring her recently, which angered her and she committed this horrific crime.

Moreover, the accused also recorded the entire incident on her mobile phone, which shows the brutality of the crime.

What did the police say?

Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The accused woman has been taken into custody and is being questioned.

The police said that Prema in her initial statement claimed that she was in the washroom when she heard a noise and, upon stepping out, found Kiran on fire. However, the CCTV footage and preliminary findings revealed that Kiran had not brought any fuel with him.

“There is a strong suspicion that the petrol was arranged in advance by the accused. This points towards premeditation,” the officer said.
