MP Woman Calls Husband’s Sister ‘Second Wife’ to Secure Divorce, Case Lands in High Court (X)
Bhopal: A shocking case has come to light from Madhya Pradesh, where a woman, in order to obtain a divorce from her 28-year-old marriage, identified her husband's sister as his second wife. The woman presented a family group photo as evidence of her husband's second marriage and obtained a unilateral divorce decree from the Gwalior Family Court.
The woman used a shocking method to separate from her husband that has raised many questions. She presented evidence in Gwalior court claiming her husband's biological sister was her second wife, citing a family photo as proof of her second marriage.
Based on this, a unilateral divorce decree was obtained from the family court. The husband has now challenged this decision in the High Court, bringing the matter back into the spotlight.
According to reports, the woman, who is a resident of Gwalior, married a man who was working with a marketing company in 1998. Her husband often stayed away for work, this led to growing conflict between the two, and the woman began living separately from him in 2015.
The woman wanted a divorce from her husband at any cost, but he was unwilling. In 2021, she filed for divorce in the family court, alleging that her husband had remarried.
Along with her divorce application, she submitted a family group photograph as evidence, in which her husband was standing with his sister and other family members. The woman claimed her husband's biological sister, who was in the photograph, as his second wife and sought a divorce.
The court, accepting the photograph as evidence, granted a unilateral divorce in the wife's favour. Due to this, the husband did not get a chance to present his side, and the woman was granted a received a divorce without the man's participation.
Government advocate Dharmendra Sharma stated that when the husband learned of the divorce in the first week of April 2026, he consulted the court records. He was stunned by the photograph that was shared as evidence. The woman in the photo was his own sister. Now, the husband has challenged a one-sided divorce decree in the High Court, alleging that his wife misled the court and fraudulently made the decision.
