Mukesh Ambani Vows Big Boost To Gujarat, Calls PM Modi India's 'Protective Wall'

Rajkot: Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited on Sunday pledged to sharply ramp up the company’s investment in Gujarat. 

Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot, he said Reliance would double its spending in the state over the next five years, from about Rs 3.5 lakh crore to Rs 7 lakh crore. He said the expanded funding will create jobs and strengthen local industry.

How did he describe Prime Minister Modi’s leadership?

During the address, Ambani praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him India’s "protective wall" amid global uncertainty. He said India’s self-confidence and global stature have grown under the PM’s leadership and that the country is ready to take on future challenges. 

"Never in the history of independent India have we seen so much hope, self-confidence and vibrancy as we see today. Your vision has reshaped India’s trajectory for the next 50 years and beyond,” Ambani said in Rajkot, with PM Modi in attendance.

Ambani said the world is facing geopolitical shifts, but India will be shielded because of strong leadership. He told the audience that “nothing can trouble our people” thanks to that protection. 

“History will record that the Modi era is when India moved from potential to performance, from aspiration to action, and from being a follower to becoming a global force. What is reassuring for India is that these challenges cannot trouble our people. This is because India has an invincible protective wall called Narendra bhai Modi,” he added.

Why is Gujarat important to Reliance?

Ambani stressed Gujarat's central role in Reliance's strategy. He called the state more than a business location, saying it is integral to the company’s identity and growth.

Alongside the investment announcement, he also outlined plans for major projects in energy, technology and sports. 

What other initiatives did Ambani outline?

Ambani said the Reliance Foundation will support the push to bring the 2036 Olympic Games to Ahmedabad. He mentioned a partnership with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex, aimed at training athletes and hosting events. 

“The Reliance Foundation stands ready to support the Prime Minister’s vision of bringing the 2036 Olympics to Ahmedabad. As a concrete step, Reliance will partner with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex in Naranpura, which will serve as a hub for national and international sporting events and for training India’s future champions,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi, Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel and other leaders were present at the event. PM Modi also took part in cultural and religious programs in the state earlier in the day. 

Prime Minister Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions.
