Three Years After Hardeep Nijjar Killing, Goldy Brar Allegedly Claims Responsibility in Viral Audio (MetaAi)

New Delhi/Chandigarh: Nearly three years after the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, a new twist has come in the case. In an alleged audio clip viral on social media, gangster Goldy Brar is heard taking responsibility for the murder of Nijjar. It is being told that this conversation took place with Khalistani terrorist Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma. However, this audio has not been independently verified, so the claims made in it are currently being seen as allegations only.

What is Goldy Brar heard claiming in the audio?

In the alleged conversation, Brar is heard claiming that he along with his associates targeted Nijjar. In different reports, quoting the audio, it has been said that Brar accused Nijjar of pushing youth into drug trade and giving protection to such people. He cited this as one of the reasons for the murder.

Was a big claim made about Nijjar's house also?

According to some reports, in the purported audio, Brar mentioned the murder of his close ones and said that his opponents used to visit or stay at Nijjar's property. For this reason he was angry against Nijjar. In the audio, he is also heard claiming that the attackers feared that Arsh Dalla might also be present with Nijjar.

Why were bullets not fired inside the gurdwara?

Another claim in the purported audio is that the attackers did not fire inside the Gurudwara complex. According to Brar, considering the decorum of the religious place, there was a wait for Nijjar to come out. After this he was targeted outside the premises. These claims have also not been independently verified.

How was Nijjar murdered on June 18, 2023?

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18, 2023. He came under target of the attackers while leaving the Gurudwara. After this massacre, there was great tension in the relations between Canada and India. The then Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau had alleged the possible role of Indian agents, which was vehemently rejected by India.

Now what has come to light in the Canadian investigation?

Recent developments in the case are important. In July 2026, US prosecutors charged Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar with conspiracy to murder Nijjar. At the same time, Canadian investigating officers have also investigated the angle of the alleged organised crime network. Canadian police had said that the investigation had revealed no evidence linking Indian government officials to Nijjar's murder.

What will be the impact on India-Canada dispute?

The Nijjar massacre has long been a major cause of tension in India-Canada relations. Following the allegations by the Trudeau government, diplomatic relations between the two countries had deteriorated significantly. India has consistently denied any government role. Now the alleged audio and recent investigative findings related to organised crime have again sparked debate on the direction of the case. However, it is too early to draw any final conclusions until the authenticity of the audio is confirmed.
