Phagwara: A shocking incident has emerged from Phagwara, Punjab. A 42-year-old woman was found murdered in her rented house in a village here on Sunday evening. Police suspect her husband, who has been missing since the incident, was the culprit, a police officer said.

What did the police say?

Phagwara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Palwinder Singh, who arrived at the scene in Chak Hakim village upon receiving information, said the deceased has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. She worked in a factory, while her husband, Devinder Singh, was a mason. The DSP added that this was the woman's second marriage, as her first husband had died. They had no children.

What about the couple's relationship?

The officer said the husband and wife had a bad relationship. They had a fight on Sunday, during which the husband allegedly hit her on the head with a heavy object, killing her on the spot. Police said the couple originally hailed from Langeri village in Banga block but were living in a rented house in the nearby village of Chak Hakim.

The accused reportedly fled to Langeri village after committing the crime, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. The deceased's family said that they had been married for four years, but things were not well between them.
