Punjab Police Foil Train Bomb Plot, Bust Alleged Terror Module; 17 Arrested (X)
Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Tuesday has foiled a major terrorist plot by arresting 17 accused and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), explosive material, electronic detonators, and a 9mm Glock pistol with a magazine.
The accused had also plotted a conspiracy to target a passenger train running between Ferozepur and Jammu using an improvised explosive device (IED). Police foiled this plot in time. The accused were arrested and evidence of their involvement in the incident was recovered.
As per the investigation, the alleged mastermind behind the plot is identified as Iqbal Singh alias Ravi, who is currently based in the United Kingdom (UK) and is reportedly involved in criminal activities.
According bto police investigations, the mastermind directed these criminals to carry out the grenade attack on the Sadar police station in Moga earlier this month.

The Punjab Police said that the investigation indicates that members of the network had allegedly planned to plant an IED on the Ferozepur-Jammu train.
The items recovered from the suspects during this swift police raid clearly reveal their dangerous mindset. Police recovered an improvised explosive device (IED), a large quantity of explosive material, a 9 mm Glock pistol with a magazine and a Hero Splendor motorcycle allegedly used by members of the module.
The discovery of these weapons and explosives is clear evidence that these individuals were fully prepared to carry out a major crime.
The police, taking a strong stand in the matter, have registered an FIR at Police Station Sadar, Moga under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, the Explosives Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
