A first information report (FIR) has been registered against Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat by the Sirohi district police in Rajasthan referring to the hate speech on September 11. According to the information, he spoke about alleged attacks during a Ram Navami procession in Sirohi.

According to the complainant, the union minister has been accused of delivering a speech at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Parivartan Yatra rally at Ramjharokha ground on September 11, in which he allegedly attempted to incite Hindus by falsely claiming that the Ram Navami Yatra came under attack in Sirohi and faced stone-pelting, hurling of petrol bombs, and that shops were burnt during the violence.

The FIR alleged that the minister’s speech falls in the category of hate speech and which has falsely spread in the intention to disturb the peace and harmony of the city.

Meanwhile, the independent legislator and advisor to the chief minister Sanyam Lodha, taking it to his official twitter handle said, “The people of Sirohi will not forgive the despicable attempt made by Central BJP government minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to burn my peace-loving Sirohi area with the torch of hatred. I had welcomed the Ram Navami procession with flowers in the presence of the District Collector and the District Superintendent of Police. The public of #सिरोही is witness that no incident of breach of peace took place.”

“I demand from the Prime Minister @narendramodi that Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat should be immediately dismissed from the cabinet for spreading hatred among the public, disturbing peace and giving hate speech. Rajasthan government should also take immediate legal action,” he added further.
