Amit Shah Tells BJP Leaders to ‘Throw Their Anger into Gomti River’ Ahead of UP Elections (X)
Lucknow: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah tried to unite the party organisation ahead of next year's assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing party workers and leaders on Friday, he called upon them to forget mutual differences, resentment and disappointment and start preparing for the elections. Shah asked the workers to work together till the counting of votes so that the BJP can return to power in the state for the third consecutive time. He also asked the workers to pour their anger into the Gomti river and move ahead.
Amit Shah told the workers, "Whatever disappointment or resentment you have in your mind, throw it in the Gomti river while leaving from here. We have to remain united. Many times what we think is not achieved." His statement is being seen as an attempt to remove the ongoing resentment and organisational dissatisfaction within the party.
Actually, these days BJP is conducting a survey regarding the condition of the organisation and workers in Uttar Pradesh. In this, some workers and regional leaders have alleged that their views are ignored. Recently, in the meeting chaired by BJP National President Nitin Naveen, the issue of giving preference to external leaders within the organisation was also raised. One leader had said that giving tickets and ministerial posts to outsiders may be acceptable, but placing them in senior positions in the organisation makes it difficult for old and dedicated workers to work with them.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his address mentioned the views of former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani. He said Advani often said that political priorities may change, but the values, ideals and ideology of the party never change. Yogi said that BJP workers work on the basis of this ideology and maintain loyalty towards the organisation regardless of personal honour or insult.
BJP State President Pankaj Chaudhary stressed increasing activism at the booth level to strengthen the organisation. He questioned the workers whether the party committees are working regularly at every booth and whether the divisional, regional and district level officials are present among the public.
He appealed to the MLAs and other leaders to maintain constant communication with the workers. Choudhary said that leaders should listen to the workers more instead of just expressing their views. He also asked the MPs, MLAs and Legislative Council members to maintain better coordination with the organisation.
The state president said that the real capital of BJP is its workers, not power. It should be the biggest priority of the organisation to honour the dedicated workers who stood with the party in difficult times.
Praising the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Amit Shah said that its functioning is 200 percent better than the previous governments of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. He claimed that due to improvement in law and order in the state, investment has increased and employment opportunities have been created.
Shah also said that Uttar Pradesh is ahead of other states in implementing the welfare schemes of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government. In his address, while on one hand the work of the Yogi government was appreciated, on the other hand the emphasis was also on strengthening the party organisation up to the booth level and removing the resentment of the workers.
