Azamgarh: The dispute that took place during worship on Tuesday evening in Shambhupur Gahji village of Ahraula police station area of ​​Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh took a bloody turn. It is alleged that Arvind Singh shot his wife Babita and two priests who were conducting the puja. After killing three people, the accused locked himself in a room of the house along with his three children. In the late-night encounter with ATS, the accused was also shot and died during treatment.

According to local people, Arvind's mother Shamla Devi and wife Babita were conducting a five-day puja for peace in the house. Arvind was opposing this puja and there was a dispute going on in the family regarding this for many days. Tuesday was the fourth day of puja. Meanwhile, Arvind returned home at around six in the evening.

Had he argued with the priests too?

Arvind reportedly became enraged after seeing the puja taking place at home. He started an argument with 60-year-old Mahendra Pathak, 50-year-old Akhilesh Mishra and his 20-year-old son Himanshu Mishra who were performing the puja. It was told that Arvind started demanding the Aadhar card of the priests, calling them hypocrites. Meanwhile, the wife and mother tried to convince him.

It is alleged that as the dispute escalated, Arvind started beating his wife Babita. The priests started making video of the incident on mobile. Seeing the video being made on the mobile, Arvind brought the licensed revolver kept at home and first shot his wife Babita. After this he also opened fire on Mahendra Pathak and Akhilesh Mishra. All three died.

During the firing, Himanshu Mishra ran out of the house making noise. Arvind's 22-year-old niece Varsha Singh, 17-year-old Riya and her mother Shamla Devi, who were present at the puja, also somehow managed to get out. After this, Arvind locked himself in a room of the house with his eight-year-old son Shaurya, nine-year-old daughter Pari and six-month-old girl.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police from six police stations including DIG Sunil Kumar Singh, SSP Dr. Anil Kumar reached the spot and surrounded the house from all sides. Due to the presence of children in the room, the police were taking action with utmost caution. Till late night the accused was persuaded to open the door and come out.

In the encounter with ATS at around 12:55 pm, the accused was hit by several bullets. The police took him to the hospital for treatment, where he also died during treatment. There is an atmosphere of tension and panic in the village after the incident. The police are investigating the entire matter.
