Lucknow: The matter of blackmailing youth by luring them into the web of friendship through dating app and extorting lakhs of rupees has become a topic of discussion in Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that a young woman would first contact young men on social media and dating platforms, then meet them after getting closer and later demand a huge amount of money by threatening to file a case under rape, molestation and other serious sections. Many cases are already registered against her in many districts including Lucknow and Prayagraj. Now a victim has demanded a fair investigation into the entire matter and strict action from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
According to the complaint, the girl used to contact people by creating profiles on dating apps and social media platforms under different names. During the conversation, she would gain trust and then fix the meeting by promising marriage or relationship. It is alleged that after this, in case of any dispute, money was demanded by threatening to register an FIR against the person concerned under rape and other serious sections. The complainants claim that many people were financially and mentally troubled in this manner.
Prayagraj resident and Allahabad High Court advocate Noor Alam has sent a complaint to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He alleged that the girl and some people associated with her have been targeting people like this for a long time. Many documents and registered cases have also been cited along with the complaint. He has demanded an investigation of the entire network and action against the culprits.
It has been claimed in the complaint that a total of 14 cases are registered against the girl in various police stations of Lucknow and Prayagraj. These are said to include cases related to rape allegations, threats, filing false cases, fraud and other sections. The complainant also says that in some cases, legal action was initiated against the girl on the instructions of the court.
It was told that the girl came to Lucknow from Prayagraj this year and filed a case against several people under serious sections including rape in a case related to a hotel in Vibhutikhand police station. The complainants allege that this was also part of the same alleged pattern, under which contact is first made and later an attempt is made to reach an agreement by pressuring them for legal action. However, investigation into these allegations is continuing at the police level.
The complaint sent to the chief minister also states that photographs of the girl with weapons and bundles of cash are available on social media. The complainant has also mentioned these photographs and some viral videos. He says that these aspects should also be independently investigated so that the truth of the entire matter can be revealed.
At present the matter is under investigation on the basis of complaint and registered cases. Police and related agencies are investigating the available evidence. Final confirmation of the allegations of any party will come only after the investigation and court process are completed. In such cases, legal action is decided only on the basis of evidence and judicial process.
