Mathura: The district administration and police have stepped up preparations to ensure the peaceful and safe celebration of Diwali, Yam Dwitiya and other upcoming festivals. Security will be strengthened in markets, major intersections and crowded areas, while special arrangements are being planned to manage the large number of devotees expected at the Yamuna ghats on Yam Dwitiya.
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar chaired a coordination meeting with administrative and police officials from various departments at the Collectorate auditorium on Wednesday. They issued instructions to ensure that festival-related arrangements remain effective and well coordinated.
The DM and SSP directed officials to remain on high alert throughout the festive period. They stressed the need for strong security arrangements at markets and sensitive locations, increased police presence in crowded areas and regular patrolling to prevent any untoward incidents.
Officials were also instructed to inspect arrangements in their respective jurisdictions and address any shortcomings without delay.
Considering the possibility of lakhs of devotees visiting Vishram Ghat and other prominent ghats in Mathura on Yam Dwitiya, the authorities have been asked to pay particular attention to traffic management.
Officials were directed to prepare effective route diversions, designated parking arrangements and crowd-control measures to ensure smooth movement of devotees. All concerned departments have been instructed to coordinate closely and fulfil their responsibilities without negligence.
The administration emphasised that the safety and convenience of devotees must remain the top priority during the celebrations.
