Labour Day Alert: Noida Under Tight Security, Drone Surveillance Across Key Areas (X)
Noida: On International Workers' Day, also know as May Day, the Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate will work to instill a sense of security among both workers and entrepreneurs. Determined to prevent a repeat of the violence that occurred a few weeks back, the police has implemented a massive security blanket across the district.
Ahead of the Labour Day, Gautam Buddha Nagar Police has invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, banning unlawful assemblies across the district. Police have implemented security measures for various events taking place across the district on Labour Day.
Drones will be used to monitor industrial areas. Police officers will personally monitor the situation via CCTV feeds from the control room. Any suspicious activity will be dealt with strictly.
A "zonal-sector plan" has also been implemented throughout the district. To ensure that crowds do not gather on the pretext of Labour Day or salary distribution, Section 163 has been imposed until May 8. Demonstrations, processions, and gatherings without prior permission are prohibited. Strict action will be taken against anyone violating this order.
Amid these extensive preparations, various labour organisations have canceled their scheduled events and public meetings. The police's primary objective is to ensure that there are no protests on Labour Day.
Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh explained that under the zonal-sector plan, the district has been divided into 11 zones and 49 sectors.
Specifically, the Noida zone has been divided into four sub-zones and 16 sectors, the Central Noida zone into three sub-zones and 24 sectors, and the Greater Noida zone into four sub-zones and nine sectors. To strengthen security in these areas, six superintendents of police (SPs), 14 additional superintendents of police, and 30 circle officers (COs) have been deployed from other districts.
Additionally, the deployment includes 65 inspectors, 400 sub-inspectors, 150 female sub-inspectors, 900 male head constables and constables, 200 female head constables and constables, and 10 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
Police personnel will be stationed at industrial units, multinational corporations, small-scale industrial areas, major intersections, and other important locations. Mobile police patrols will also be deployed throughout the district.
