Meerut: More than 24 hours have passed since the incident in Meerut where a Dalit girl was abducted after her mother was murdered, but the police have yet to make any progress in the case. The police have neither recovered the abducted girl nor arrested the accused. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) met with the victim's family and assured them of strict action.
On Friday, DM and SSP Vipin Tada met with the victim's family and spoke with them for about an hour. The police administration assured the family that ten teams have been formed to investigate the case. Continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend the accused. The accused will soon be in police custody.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said that their daughter would be recovered safely. However, the family is adamant that they will not perform the mother's last rites until their daughter is safely returned home and the accused are arrested.
There is widespread anger among the local people regarding this incident. In a conversation with ABP News, neighbors said that on Thursday morning at 8 AM, the girl left with her mother to take food for her father, and as soon as they reached the outskirts of the village, Paras Som called out to them from behind, using abusive language.
Initially, the mother and daughter ignored him and continued walking, but when he abused them again, the mother stopped, after which the accused started molesting her daughter. When the mother protested, the accused attacked her with an axe and forcibly abducted her daughter.
The family and neighbors say that two other girls from the village were with them who came back to the village and informed them about the incident. The neighbors said that nothing like this had ever happened before, nor was there any old enmity. This happened suddenly, and if action is not taken against them, they might do it again. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents.
The family and neighbors say they will not cremate the body until their daughter is returned home and the killers are apprehended. The police had given them 24 hours to bring their daughter back, but 24 hours have passed, and neither the daughter has returned nor have the killers been caught.
Speaking to ABP News, the family members named Paras Som and Tufan, and said that other people were also involved. The family claims that the main accused is Paras Som and that he committed the crime.
