Noida: Commuters travelling on the Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor will soon have shorter waiting times, with the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) introducing more frequent train services during peak hours from November 1.

The interval between trains will be reduced from the existing 7 minutes and 30 seconds to 6 minutes and 35 seconds. The decision comes in response to rising passenger numbers and record ridership on the Aqua Line.

Aqua Line Records Over 1.05 Lakh Passengers in a Day

The metro network registered its highest-ever single-day ridership on October 23, when 1,05,358 passengers travelled on the Aqua Line. NMRC has also reported an increase of approximately 20 per cent in average daily passenger numbers.

To improve the commuting experience, the corporation has been working on facilities such as QR code-based ticketing, the National Common Mobility Card and better connectivity through foot overbridges.

Could Metro Services Continue Later at Night?

NMRC is also considering extending operating hours to make late-night travel more convenient. Under the proposal, the last train from Sector 51 towards Depot Station could depart at 11:25 pm.

However, the proposed schedule has not yet received final approval. Its implementation will depend on operational preparations and a feasibility assessment.

Focus on Better Last-Mile Connectivity

Alongside more frequent trains and the proposed extension of service hours, NMRC is holding discussions with relevant stakeholders to improve last-mile connectivity for passengers.

The latest changes are aimed at accommodating growing demand and making daily travel between Noida and Greater Noida more convenient.
