What steps can you take if your name is not in the list?

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that the period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from January 6 to February 6, 2026.  All claims and objections received during the notice period from January 6 to February 27, 2026, will be resolved.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that all enumeration forms related to the voter list revision have been received and their digitization has also been completed. According to the revised schedule, after the release of the draft voter list, citizens will get one month to apply for adding names, making corrections, or filing objections.

According to the Election Commission, the final voter list of Uttar Pradesh will be published on March 6, 2026. The commission has appealed to the voters to check their names in the draft list and in case of any error or omission, file a claim or objection within the stipulated time.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh stated, "Of the more than 150 million voters, those who signed the forms themselves or had a family member sign them constituted the majority. Approximately 81 percent of those on the old voter list returned the signed forms, while about 18 percent did not. There were several reasons why some people did not return the forms. The number of deceased voters was 4.623 million, and the number of voters who had moved or relocated was 21.7 million.  Those whose names were found to be registered in more than one location totaled 2.547 million. The total number of people whose names did not appear in the draft list was 28.9 million."
