Lucknow: As Uttar Pradesh gears up for Assembly Elections next year, the long-delayed expansion of the Yogi Adityanath-led state Cabinet took place on Sunday at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. Six new faces have being inducted into the cabinet, while two existing ministers will be promoted to cabinet ministers.

Who are these new faces?

About six ministers were sworn in as ministers at the swearing-in ceremony held at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow on Sunday, while two were promoted to new positions. The cabinet expansion focused on maintaining social and regional balance.

The leaders who took oath include former UP BJP president Bhupendra Chaudhary, Samajwadi Party rebel Manoj Kumar Pandey, Krishna Paswan, Surendra Diler, Hansraj Vishwakarma and Kailash Rajput.

Additionally, Ajit Singh Pal and Somendra Tomar were also elevated as minister of state with independent charge.

Who administered oath?

Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath at the Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. Several senior BJP leaders, MPs, MLAs, and organization officials were present. The swearing-in ceremony was marked by considerable enthusiasm among supporters.

What is the reason of Cabinet expansion?

According to political experts, this cabinet expansion of the Yogi government has been done solely with electoral strategy in mind. Through this expansion, the BJP has attempted to appease the backward classes, Dalits, and various regional communities. By representing leaders from Western Uttar Pradesh , Bundelkhand, and Purvanchal, the party has attempted to create a broad social balance.
