We knew we would be rescued: One of the rescued workers from Uttarkashi Tunnel collapse

Everyone from the families, government and nation expressed gratitude after the safe evacuation of the labourers who were trapped inside Uttarkashi Silkyara Tunnel for more than 400 hrs. 41 workers who were evacuated from the Uttarkashi tunnel on Tuesday after 17 days of being trapped are now looking forward.

One of the rescued labourers, Vishwajeet Kumar Verma from Jharkhand who operates a compressor machine while speaking to media reporters said that he had full faith that he would be rescued and would see the outside world again.

We were 'determined' to be evacuated: Subodh Kumar Verma

A colleague of Vishwajeet, Subodh Kumar Verma said that the workers inside the tunnel were 'determined' to be evacuated. He also thanked the Central and state government for their efforts to bring out all the 41 workers safely.

Of the 41 men, 15 are from Jharkhand, two are from Uttarakhand, five are from Bihar, three are from West Bengal, eight are from Uttar Pradesh, five are from Odisha, two are from Assam, and one is from Himachal Pradesh, who were trapped in the Silkyara tunnel since November 12 after one of the sides of the tunnel collapsed making their exit blocked.

Furthermore, PM Modi while praising the agencies involved in the rescue operation said that everyone involved in this mission has set an example of humanity and teamwork.
