New Delhi: On this Independence Day, the Delhi Police is using AI and advanced technology to secure the Red Fort. This time, the most important element in the security of the Red Fort is the Abhigyan app. In view of the large presence of VIPs, VVIPs, and approximately 25,000 general visitors, security forces have been equipped with a high-tech app. This app can quickly detect criminals hiding in the crowd. This clearly demonstrates how technology is fully prepared for the Independence Day security arrangements.

What is Abhigyan App?

The Abhigyan app, developed as part of the Indian government's Smart Policing initiative, is a highly advanced app. It allows security forces to check the criminal records of suspects on the spot.

To achieve this, security personnel are provided with special handheld biometric devices that are linked to a dedicated app. This allows them to access a suspect's criminal record and maintain a robust security system.

How does this technology work?

The Abhigyan app works very quickly and accurately, allowing security personnel to take fingerprints of suspicious-looking individuals in a crowd using their handheld devices.

The app then searches the backend for that person's information from a database of over 10 million criminals. This takes just a few seconds, and the scan results are displayed based on a match against the database.

The app also provides results based on color codes. If the fingerprint matches a previous criminal, a red signal appears on the screen, revealing that person's entire history.

If no criminal record of the suspect is found, a green signal appears on the screen.

Why was the Abhigyan app deployed at the Red Fort?

In a crowded area like the Red Fort on August 15, it's impossible to take every suspect to the police station and investigate them. This app allows for on-the-spot investigations.

This advanced app ensures zero-error security by utilizing technology to tackle any untoward incident or terrorist threat on a sensitive national festival like Independence Day.

The app also offers biometric verification, rather than relying solely on camera data. This makes it easier to catch criminals who are concealing their identities.

Not only this, to make the security of Red Fort impenetrable, FRS i.e. Facial Recognition System cameras and anti-drone system will also be used along with the Abhigyan app.
