Viral: Unsolicited advice from a cab driver about the "right age" to get married by a woman on Reddit is what prompted widespread outrage and concerns across various social media platforms. The post read that the driver picked her up for an unprompted discussion; he said girls should be married by the time they were 19 and indicated that she looked to be of "marriageable age."
The woman preferred not to mention her name and said that when she is inside a cab, she usually hears music and asks the driver as few questions as possible. "He then starts giving me a long lecture on how it's important for girls to marry at 18 or 19," she wrote, describing how despite her silence on the matter, the driver went on to tell her how women should get married when they are still 18 or 19.

The Reddit community responded with a mix of outrage and advice. One user recommended reporting the incident through the cab app's support system or informing her HR department if it was a company cab. "It's essential to ensure drivers maintain professionalism and avoid putting customers in such uncomfortable situations," the user wrote. The woman confirmed that she had reported the incident and left a low rating for the driver.
Another commenter proposed a brash response: returning unsolicited advice with invasive questions about the advisor's personal life choices. "Give them a taste of their own medicine and remind them why we should mind our own business," the user added. Others suggested simply to ignore such encounters altogether, one of whom quipped, "Turn up the volume on the music. Most drivers will give up or start mumbling about ungrateful youths."
In another incident, a woman reported a disturbing experience with an Ola cab driver. She said in a LinkedIn post that the driver stopped the car within minutes of the ride under the pretext of filling his water bottle. He then allegedly demanded payment through a QR code before continuing the journey.
The woman fought back, and allegedly the driver in his aggressive use of Haryanvi verbally abused her stating: "I'll beat you hard," and promised: "Come when night has come, let me show how I will." Those incidents and discussions about riders' safety once more resurface along with serious concern about a taxi driver's professionalism, along with many voices shouting out for tightened law enforcement practices on those ride cabs.
