A professional lip reader analyzed the now-viral footage and offered an unexpected interpretation of the tense moment. According to The Express, Brigitte appeared to mutter a scathing remark to the President right after pushing him: "Dégage, espèce de loser," which translates to "Stay away, you loser" in English.

Body language and reactions at the top of the stairs

After the shove, Emmanuel Macron reportedly tried to keep his composure. He said "Hi" and waved to the cameras, before turning to Brigitte and telling her, "Let’s go".But the icy atmosphere continued. At the top of the staircase, Macron offered his arm to Brigitte, which she pointedly ignored. Instead, she chose to cling to the railing, adding to the perception of visible tension.

A frosty exchange and an attempt at reconciliation

The lip reader further claimed that President Macron made a conciliatory attempt with the phrase "Essayons, s’il te plaît" ("Let’s try, please?"), to which Brigitte coldly responded, "Non".

'I See': Macron’s closing words hint at resignation

The final words lip-read from the video came from Macron himself, as he said, “Je vois” (“I see”). The brief but poignant remark appeared to seal the interaction with a tone of resignation. Observers labeled the moment as a rare, unguarded peek into the couple’s dynamic, especially during a high-profile diplomatic event.

Macron responds: 'People need to calm down'

Initially, Macron’s office questioned the authenticity of the footage. However, it later confirmed the video was genuine. Macron dismissed the widespread speculation, saying, "We are squabbling and, rather, joking with my wife". He went on to criticize the viral reaction, claiming it was being turned into a "geo-planetary catastrophe" by his critics.

Social Media divided over the incident

Online users remain divided. While some interpret the moment as harmless marital teasing, others believe it reveals deeper tensions. The viral nature of the clip and the lip-reading interpretation have only fueled more public curiosity about the first couple’s relationship.
