Man Finds Gold Worth Over Rs 1.6 Lakh Inside Duck’s Stomach in China (X)

New Delhi: It may sound cartoonish but this is real. A rare and strange discovery has surprised many people after a Chinese villager discovered pieces of gold worth Rs 1.6 lakh inside the stomach of a duck that he was preparing for dinner.

According to reports, this strange incident took place in central China's Longhui County of Hunan province.

How was the gold discovered?

The man, identified only by his surname Liu, had raised the duck himself and was cleaning it after slaughtering it. During the process he noticed several yellowish particles mixed in with the bird's digestive contents.

The Chinese man had been preparing the duck for cooking when he found gold particles. Initially, Liu thought the particles were small stones or bits of metal. However, the shine of the particles caught his attention. To check what they were, he carried out a examination with the help of a burning test, a common way to test gold.

After the burning test, the particles did not change colour, suggesting they were real gold.

According to reports, the pieces together weighed around 10 grams and were valued at about 12,000 yuan (around Rs 1.6 lakh).

How did gold get inside the duck?

According to the reports, Liu said that the ducks in his village are raised freely near a river that was once known for gold mining.

Liu believes that the duck might have swallowed mud or sand containing tiny gold particles while searching for food near the riverbank. Liu’s father saw the discovery as a good omen for the coming year.

The rare find has since gone viral on social media, with many users calling Liu “extremely lucky” for his unexpected golden discovery.
