Valentine's Day Row in MP: Shiv Sena Warns Against 'Western Culture' Celebrations (X)
Sagar: With February 14 just two days away, Shiv Sena in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh has again started its protest against celebrating Valentine's Day.
To protest against celebration of Valentine's Day, which according to them is against Indian culture, the workers of the party held a ritual called "lath poojan", where they worshiped wooden sticks.
Shiv Sena performed 'lath puja' at Phelwan Baba temple and mustard oils were rubbed on sticks and puja was performed under the supervision of Shiv Sena's Deputy State Chief Pappu Tiwari.
The activist issued warnings against public celebrations of the day that they describe as foreign and contrary to Indian culture.

A group of Shiv Sena workers performed puja at the Phelwan Baba temple and chanted slogans "Yahan milega babu shona tod denge kona kona".
Shiv Sena called Valentine’s Day a symbol of Western culture, saying it has no place in Indian tradition.
The activists marched through nearby streets shouting slogans and warned couples, hotel owners and park visitors that any "obscene behavior" on February 14 would not be tolerated.
Shiv Sena's Deputy State Chief Pappu Tiwari said that party workers would be patrolling the city to watch public places.
Shiv Sena said that if a couple are found engaging in inappropriate acts in public, the group would first try to involve the couple’s parents.
Tiwari added that if adults are involved, then the party workers will arrange marriage ceremonies on the spot to curb what they called indecency.
Shiv Sena leaders also issued an warning to hotel and restaurant owners, saying that if any public events or parties on Valentine’s Day they deem indecent could be met with protests. The group claims this stance is to protect Indian values and cultural norms.
