Who Is Farman Khan, Married To Maha Kumbh Fame Monalisa Bhosle? Couple Ties The Knot In Kerala Temple

New Delhi: Monalisa Bhosle, the viral girl during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is again in the spotlight after marrying the actor-model Farman Khan at a temple in Kerala on Thursday. After the wedding ceremony, the couple also approached the Kerala Police seeking protection following opposition from her family.

Who is Monalisa Bhosle?

The 18-year-old girl, who is also known as 'Kumbh Mela Girl', became a viral sensation during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. 

She tied the knot with her Muslim boyfriend Farman Khan at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Poovar, near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

Monalisa, who originally is from Madhya Pradesh's Indore and Farhan, who is from Maharashtra, first connected through Facebook about six months ago.

The Kumbh Mela Girl is now set to enter Malayalam cinema with P. Binu Varghese's 'Nagamma', alongside actor Kailash. 

Monalisa is also gearing up for her Bollywood debut in Sanoj Mishra's upcoming film, 'The Diary of Manipur'.

Why was the family against the marriage?

The couple's relationship was not accepted by her family due to the interfaith tensions.

Monalisa also approached the Thampanoor police station in the Kerala capital seeking protection following opposition from her family. 

The Kumbh Mela Girl, who was recently shooting for her debut Malayalam film 'Nagamma' in Poovar and her father reportedly located her and attempted to forcibly take her back to their hometown.  Following this, the couple reached the police station seeking protection.

Later, a complaint was files and her father was called by police, during the discussion the officers said that since Monalisa is 18, so she has the legal right to decide her partner.

Who is Farman Khan?

Farman Khan, who hails from Maharashtra, is an actor and model. He has worked in regional cinema and modelling assignments. 

According to media reports, Farman first connected with Monalisa on Facebook around a year and a half ago and gradually developed into a romantic relationship.

Monalisa after the ceremony said that  she is happy after the wedding and also shared the reason of choosing Kerala as the venue because they liked the state.

While talking about their relationship, Farman Khan said, "Ours is a six-month love story, but it feels like sixty years. I am also an actor."

Did Kerala leaders also attend her wedding?

The couple married at a temple, in the presence of several Kerala leaders, including Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty, who called the event as "the real Kerala story", CPI(M) State Secretary M. V. Govindan and CPI(M) District Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP A. A. Rahim.

During the wedding ceremony, M. V. Govindan said, "Different religions ultimately stand for humanity. This marriage demonstrates Kerala’s commitment to upholding that human value."
