New Delhi: Immediately after taking the oath of office, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay presided over his first official meeting with senior officials at the State Secretariat. During this inaugural meeting, CM Vijay conducted a detailed review of the state's law and order and security situation. Notably, today—Sunday—TVK chief Vijay was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Following his swearing-in, the new Chief Minister, Vijay, chaired his first meeting at the Secretariat to review the law and order situation. During the meeting, senior officials briefed the Chief Minister on the prevailing security and administrative conditions. This marked Vijay's first official review in his capacity as the head of the government. Chief Minister Vijay made it clear that the sole objective of his government is the progress and public welfare of Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C. Joseph Vijay thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending his congratulations upon his assumption of office as the state's Chief Minister. In a post, Vijay stated, "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for his good wishes on my assumption of office as Chief Minister."
Emphasizing his government's priorities, Vijay affirmed that the singular objective of his administration would be the welfare and progress of the people of Tamil Nadu. He also expressed hope for the active support and cooperation of the Central Government for the continued development of the state.
The first session of the 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has been convened to be held on Monday, May 11, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the Assembly Hall located within the Secretariat complex in Chennai. According to an official press release issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will take their oaths of office during this session.
The Assembly Secretariat has instructed all elected members to bring their election certificates with them at the time of the oath-taking ceremony. Meanwhile, the elections for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 12, at 9:30 AM.
