TN Govt Formation Row: Vijay's TVK holds meeting at party HQ; Congress Calls Statewide Protest (X)
Chennai: The political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu has become heated regarding government formation. The newly elected Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLAs arrived at the party office in Chennai. TVK had won 108 seats out of 234 in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, becoming the single-largest party.
Following the impasse in the formation of a new government led by the TVK in Tamil Nadu, the Congress Committee will launch statewide protests on Friday against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Union government and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

Vijay-led TVK's crucial meeting is underway at the party headquarters, which is being attended by senior leaders and MLAs. The meeting focuses on alliance strategy and ways to counter possible political manoeuvres aimed at destabilising the party.
While replying to the question regarding forming the government in Tamil Nadu, party leader P Venkataramanan said, "Give us one hour, we will update you in an hour."
Venkataramanan further replied to the question if the party was confident about forming the government, stating, "Sure."

While, accusing BJP, Congress MP Manickam Tagore, a close ally of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, said, "We all know that the people of Tamil Nadu have voted for change. They have voted for a new leader. The TVK has elected 108 MLAs, and with Congress support, this number will increase to 113. The Governor is a former BJP leader. We know that the BJP in Delhi does not want Vijay to become Chief Minister. Therefore, the Governor is delaying the matter. The BJP has only one MLA in Tamil Nadu, and the BJP wants to play politics with that too."
Meanwhile, Congress leader Jothimani Sennimalai has leveled serious allegations against the Governor.
She stated that TVK leader Vijay is not being invited to form the government, which is not correct. The Congress leader accused the BJP of "playing politics through Lok Bhavan" and demanded an immediate halt to this.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai said that, "The Bharatiya Janata Party and its puppet Governor are indulging in unconstitutional actions to prevent Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam from forming the government despite the people clearly rejecting the traditional political order in the State."

Amid ongoing political developments and speculation surrounding government formation, security remained intensified outside Lok Bhavan in Chennai with police maintaining strict vigil and movement restrictions in the area.

Thalapathy Vijay on Thursday once again met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan to stake his claim to form the government in the state, however was his proposal was refused, saying that "return only after securing the support of 118 MLAs," according to sources.
According o sources, the Governor has asked Vijay to return with signatures of 118 MLAs, and then only the swearing-in process will take place.
As per sources, the Tamil Nadu Governor said that, "Please come with 118 signatures. Prove that TVK has the majority, only then the swearing-in ceremony can happen."
