Kolkata: West Bengal will get a new Chief Minister on Saturday. Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who played a key role in the Bharatiya Janata Party's historic victory, has been elected Chief Minister of West Bengal at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislative party meeting on Friday. The oath-ceremony will take place at the Brigade Parade Ground and will Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance, alongside several high-profile.

Who will attend the meeting?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and former BJP President, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and the Chief Ministers of all BJP-ruled states are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

What did Kolkata police say?

In view of this, the Kolkata Police is also on alert. They have tightened security around the Brigade Parade Ground and throughout the city. The movement of freight vehicles in and around Kolkata has been restricted. 

According to a traffic advisory issued by the Kolkata Police late Friday evening, traffic will be restricted on the Esplanade Ramp, Khidderpore Road, Hospital Road, Casuarina Avenue, and Queens Way.

According to media reports, a senior police officer stated that heavy police deployments have been made at all major routes leading to the Brigade Parade Ground and the venue. A multi-layered security cordon will be in place around the venue. Traffic diversions have also been implemented at several locations to ensure smooth movement of VVIP convoys and avoid traffic jams in Kolkata. Citizens have been advised to follow traffic advisories.

According to information received from Kolkata Police, the movement of cargo vehicles will be restricted in Kolkata from 4 am to 8 pm on Saturday. However, vehicles carrying essential goods such as vegetables, medicines, milk, and oxygen are exempt from this restriction. Parking has also been restricted in several areas around the venue.
