New Delhi: The celebration of the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is celebrated as Mahashivratri. It is believed that the fruits of worshipping on Mahashivratri are equivalent to those of the 12 Shivaratris that occur through the year. On this special day, Shiva devotees worship Lord Shiva with utmost devotion. The four-hour worship is also considered very important.
Temples and Shivalayas are thronged with devotees on this day. It is said that performing Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek of the Shivalinga on Mahashivratri fulfills all wishes. Everyone tries to please Lord Shiva in their own way. However, there is a common mistake that approximately 90 percent of people make while returning from a Shiva temple. Learn in detail below what this common mistake is.
Don't make this mistake while returning from a Shiva temple. Let us tell you that this common mistake is related to the pot. In fact, the pot used to offer water to Lord Shiva should never be brought back empty. It is believed that bringing an empty pot home clearly means that you are bringing poverty with you. Therefore, when returning from a Shiva temple, the pot used for the Abhishekam should never be kept empty. Keep a little water from the Shivalinga in the pot. Apart from this, keep the rice grains or flowers found in the temple in the pot before returning home. According to religious belief, sprinkling this water throughout the house removes all kinds of negativity. It is believed that this brings happiness and prosperity to the home.
There are some other rules that are important to follow. It's important to note that these rules apply not only to Shiva temples but to any temple dedicated to any deity. When returning from the temple, never ring the bell. It is always rung upon entering the temple. Furthermore, instead of immediately washing your hands and feet upon returning home, sit quietly for a while. It is believed that this will significantly improve the energy in and around you. Keep the prasad and flower garlands received from the temple in the puja area at home for a while. Later, you can put them in a flower pot. Otherwise, you can immerse them in a river or flowing water. Just be careful not to leave these sacred items in a dirty place.
