Auto News:  Nissan, famous in India for its Magnite SUV, is now preparing to launch a bigger and stronger model. This SUV will make its global debut on October 7, 2025. It is designed to directly compete with popular mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The company has kept the official name secret, but reports suggest it could be called the Nissan Kite. With its bold design and modern features, Nissan is aiming for a fresh impact in India’s SUV market.

Inspired by Renault Duster platform

The new Nissan SUV will share its base with the third-generation Renault Duster, expected in India in 2026. Both vehicles will have similar platforms, engines, and mechanical parts. However, Nissan is promising an entirely different design to set it apart from Duster. The teaser shows a sporty look, with Nissan’s signature grille and stylish L-shaped LED DRLs. The exterior is expected to be more premium, with sleek lines and a modern finish to attract younger buyers.

Packed with advanced features inside

Reports say this SUV could offer more features than the Renault Duster. A larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity is expected. The SUV may also include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, multiple drive modes, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents. Safety features like a 360-degree camera, hill assist, and multiple airbags are also being considered. Nissan is likely to focus on offering better interiors and a premium feel compared to its competitors.

Engine options under consideration

The SUV’s engines may be borrowed from the global Renault Duster lineup. Likely options include a 1.3L petrol engine with 160bhp and a 1.2L mild-hybrid engine with 130bhp. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be available. Higher variants may even get a 4x4 option, making it suitable for off-road driving. Nissan also plans to bring a hybrid version later, targeting eco-friendly buyers. A CNG version could also be introduced, either factory-fitted or through retrofit kits.

Launch expected in early 2026

While the global launch is set for October 7, 2025, the SUV will reach Indian showrooms in early 2026. The car will compete directly against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Victor. Nissan hopes this launch will strengthen its presence in the Indian market, where mid-size SUVs are growing rapidly. With pricing expected to be competitive, the company aims to attract both city drivers and long-distance travelers.

Nissan’s strategy for Indian market

Experts believe this SUV could be a game-changer for Nissan in India. The company has been struggling with limited models in its lineup. By entering the high-demand mid-size SUV category, Nissan is aiming for a revival. The combination of premium design, multiple engine options, and advanced features may help Nissan win back customers. The success of this SUV will decide Nissan’s future strategy in India.

Global debut to grab attention

The global debut of the SUV on October 7 is expected to create buzz worldwide. Senior executives like Alfonso Albaisa and Ken Lee will showcase the design vision. This will highlight Nissan’s global commitment to innovation and style. For Indian buyers, the debut will offer the first look at what could be Nissan’s most important launch in years. Industry analysts say the SUV will face tough competition but has the potential to carve its space in the segment.
