New Delhi: If you're considering an adventure bike, the competition between the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 and the BMW F 450 GS could be interesting. Both bikes offer distinct styles. The Himalayan 750 offers a larger engine and more torque, which may appeal to long-distance riders. The BMW F 450 GS, on the other hand, is lighter and boasts several powerful features. BMW's bike is available for sale in India, while the Himalayan 750's launch and pricing are awaited.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 is powered by a 743cc, air-oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 55 bhp and 63 Nm of torque. The company claims that 90% of its peak torque is available at 3,500 rpm. This can be helpful for long highway rides and mountainous terrain. The BMW F 450 GS, on the other hand, is powered by a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 47 bhp and 43 Nm of torque. It features a 135-degree crankshaft offset, which results in a distinct engine sound and handling.
The BMW F 450 GS has a weight advantage, weighing 178 kg, while the Himalayan 750 weighs 224 kg. The lighter weight could make the BMW easier to handle on narrow and rough roads. The Himalayan 750 features Showa adjustable suspension. It offers 190mm of front and 175mm of rear suspension travel. Both bikes have 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.
The Himalayan 750 comes with a 4-inch TFT display, Google Navigation, cruise control, traction control, cornering ABS, and TPMS. It also has five riding modes: Road, Road Sport, Rain, Trail, and Custom. The BMW F 450 GS comes with a larger 6.5-inch TFT display. It also comes with features like ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, and Dynamic Brake Control. Some variants also get Shift Assistant Pro and Easy Ride Clutch, which can make changing gears and handling the bike in traffic easier.
The BMW F 450 GS was launched in India in April 2026. Its ex-showroom price is ₹4.95 lakh. Meanwhile, official details about the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750's launch and pricing in India are yet to be revealed. Therefore, when choosing between the two, it's best to consider your riding needs, budget, and features.
