Automobile News: Harley-Davidson has updated the prices of its bikes in the Indian market. The change comes after the new GST rates announced by the government. All Harley-Davidson models are above 350 cc category, so they now fall under the higher 40 per cent tax slab, which has pushed prices up. The only exception is the X440, which stays at the same price as the company is taking care of the extra cost itself.
The price rise is different for each Harley-Davidson bike, with the premium touring models seeing the largest increase. The Road Glide, for example, has gone up by Rs 3.45 lakh. Other models in the Sport and Cruiser ranges are also much costlier after the new tax rules. The Street Glide now costs Rs 42.50 lakh, higher by Rs 3.20 lakh from its old price of Rs 39.30 lakh. The Road Glide has risen from Rs 42.30 lakh to Rs 45.75 lakh, an increase of Rs 3.45 lakh.
The Street Bob is now at Rs 20.23 lakh, higher by Rs 1.46 lakh compared to its earlier price of Rs 18.77 lakh. The Breakout has climbed to Rs 34.36 lakh, up by Rs 2.57 lakh from Rs 31.79 lakh. The well-known Fat Boy now costs Rs 28.03 lakh, a jump of Rs 2.13 lakh over the earlier Rs 25.90 lakh. The Heritage Classic has moved up from Rs 23.85 lakh to Rs 25.71 lakh, showing a rise of Rs 1.86 lakh. The Pan America 1250 Special, an adventure touring model, is now priced at Rs 27.16 lakh, which is Rs 2.06 lakh more than its old price of Rs 25.10 lakh.
The smallest price changes are seen in the Nightster range. The Nightster now sells at Rs 14.54 lakh, an increase of Rs 1.03 lakh over its earlier Rs 13.51 lakh. The Nightster Special now costs Rs 15.38 lakh, which is Rs 1.09 lakh more than the previous Rs 14.29 lakh. The Sportster S is also costlier now at Rs 18.05 lakh, which is Rs 1.35 lakh higher compared to the older price of Rs 16.70 lakh.
