New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India has pulled the Gloster off its website. The big 7-seater SUV has been replaced by the Majestor, and that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about where things stand. What makes this particularly awkward is the numbers. The Gloster hasn't sold a single unit in the last five months. To move whatever inventory is left sitting in dealerships, MG is now throwing a Rs 4 lakh discount at buyers. That breaks down to Rs 3.5 lakh straight cash off the price, plus a Rs 50,000 exchange bonus if you're trading in an old vehicle. The Gloster's ex-showroom pricing runs from Rs 38.33 lakh to Rs 42.49 lakh, putting it in direct competition with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.

Is it not the first time, MG has gone back on its word?

When MG launched the Majestor, the company specifically assured buyers that the Gloster would continue selling alongside it. That promise lasted until it didn't. The pictures removal from the website also happened without any announcement. This isn't the first time the brand has done something like this. When the Windsor EV launched, MG made headlines of unlimited free public charging for the entire first year of ownership, for anyone who took delivery before January 1, 2025. It worked brilliantly as a marketing move. The Windsor became the top-selling EV in India almost overnight. Then, about 40 days later, MG quietly pulled the offer. Apparently nobody had done the math on whether it was actually sustainable before making the promise publicly.

What the Gloster actually offers?

For anyone still considering picking one up at the discounted price, here's what the Gloster brings to the table.
It comes in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The exterior carries a dark theme running through the roof rails, smoked black taillights, window surrounds, fenders and fog lamp garnish. Inside, you get dark-themed leatherette seat upholstery with red stitching. There's also a Blackstorm variant for those who want to lean further into the dark aesthetic.
Engine options are a 2.0-litre turbo diesel making 161.5 bhp and 373.5 Nm, or a more powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel producing 215.5 bhp and 478.5 Nm of torque. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Features include a dual panoramic electric sunroof, 12-way power adjustable driver's seat with massage and ventilation functions, and seven all-terrain driving modes covering Sand, Eco, Sport, Normal, Rock, Snow and Mud. These may be the solid features on papers but the decision highlights that the market didn't agree.
