Tata, Nissan Set To Launch Feature-Packed Mid-Size SUVs Within 2 Weeks (X: @Nissan_India\@Tataev)

New Delhi: The automobile industry is set for some major action in the next two weeks. Tata Motors' mid-size SUV and Nissan's are on the verge of making their debut in the Indian market. The design of both mid-size SUVs will be bold, features top-notch, and powertrains will be strong.

When will Tata Sierra EV launch?

The Tata Sierra EV is set to launch on June 30. It will slot between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV.
On Wednesday, TATA released the teaser of the new car, Sierra EV, on their social media handle X. The new teaser showcases the Sierra EV without any camouflage, offering the clearest look yet at Tata’s upcoming electric SUV. The vehicle is seen driving through desert terrain, with several shots suggesting that Tata is preparing the Sierra EV for a dune-climbing attempt at Tal Moreeb in the UAE.

How is the design of the Sierra EV?

It's design will largely mirror the ICE version of the Sierra, but with a few EV-specific tweaks. Up front, the Sierra EV will get a body-colored closed-off grille with the Tata logo at the center.

What about the features?

It also will have a full-width connected LED DRL, rectangular LED headlamps in the bumper and vertically stacked LED fog lamps. Additional features include 19-inch aerodynamic dual-tone alloy wheels, blacked out pillars, square wheel arches and flush-fitting door handles. The rear will feature a complete LED light bar, bult-up bumper cladding, a silver skid plate, and Sierra EV badging.

The interior looks to be largely the same as the interior of the Sierra (ICE) with Tata Motors currently yet to reveal the interior layout of this EV, but it's assumed to be pretty much the same.

What about the battery and range?

Talking about the platform, the Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev+ architecture. There’s a strong chance it will share battery pack options with the Harrier EV. If that’s the case, the Sierra EV could come with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options.

The rear-wheel drive variant may produce 238 PS of power and 315 Nm of torque. The dual-motor AWD version could get an additional front motor making 158 PS.

As for range, the 65 kWh battery pack might deliver up to 538 km on a single charge, while the larger 75 kWh pack could offer around 627 km.

What is the expected price?

Pricing for the Sierra EV is expected to be between Rs 15 to 25 lakh.

When will Nissan Tekton launch?

Nissan’s mid-size SUV will make its global debut on July 9. The biggest highlight of the Tekton will be its design. Inspired by the Petrol SUV, Nissan is even calling it the ‘Baby Patrol’. Up front, it gets a large grille with multiple horizontal slats and a red strip running across its full width. The bonnet also features ‘TEKTON’ lettering. At the rear, you’ll see connected C-shaped LED tail lights, a twin-ridge roof spoiler, and ‘TEKTON’ badged in large letters on the tailgate.

What are the features?

As far as the interior of the cabin is concerned, the interior of the Tekton will be more upmarket than the interior of the Duster. The top-notch features are the 10.1 inch touch screen infotainment panel, digital instrument cluster, Google map system, leatherette seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging system, connected car technology and dual-zone climate control.

It will also be fitted with ADAS and a 360 degree camera by Nissan. The Tekton is expected to get the same engine options as the Duster. The base variant could be priced around Rs 11 lakh.
