Virat Mahila Udhyami Sammelan: New Delhi witnessed a historic event, the 'Virat Mahila Udhyami Sammelan,' hosted by the Association of Direct Selling Entities of India and Confederation of all India Traders (CAIT) on the momentous occasion of International Women's Day. Esteemed guests including Central Ministers Smriti Irani and Piyush Goyal, alongside BJP leader Praveen Khandelwal, graced the occasion, underscoring the pivotal role of women in the realm of direct selling.

Acknowledging Women's Contributions

Over 20,000 women from various states converged at the Indira Gandhi arena to celebrate their journey in direct selling. Addressing the gathering, ADSEI President Sanjeev Kumar lauded the proactive measures taken by the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in addressing the challenges faced by the sector. He highlighted the government's successful efforts in separating direct selling from dubious practices like chit funds, thereby positioning it as a product-oriented sector.

Government Support and Recognition

Minister of Consumer Affairs, Piyush Goyal, commended the integrity and dedication exhibited by women in direct selling, emphasizing how the sector has become a catalyst for socioeconomic empowerment. He reiterated the government's commitment to providing new avenues for mothers, sisters, and daughters to fulfil their aspirations and contribute to the nation's progress.

Women Empowerment Initiatives

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, shed light on the significant role played by women in the direct selling sector, with approximately 2 crore women contributing to a turnover of 25 crores. She lauded the government's 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative and urged ADSEI and CAIT to collaborate in nurturing women entrepreneurs to become Crorepati. The event also saw the felicitation of a hundred women for their outstanding achievements in direct selling.
